New Mexico!

Recently my family took a trip to New Mexico! It was tons of fun and I would like to share a bit about it! We stayed in Abiquiu which is near Santa Fe and Taos! We rented a casita (house) which i had my own bedroom. It was quaint but perfect for a family of 3! One downside was, you had to walk through the master bedroom to get to the only bathroom. We stayed with another family, whose casita was joint with ours, just split down the center. On the grounds surrounding the houses, there was a beautiful garden! It had tons of beautiful plants.

Near where we we were there was a great ice cream place called "The Frosty Cow". They have tons of options, such as, sundaes, malts, shakes, and just regular ice cream by the scoop! Its a small business with alot of charm! We had an off day with nothing planned, so we decided to go explore. I grabbed my camera and off we went. We saw signs on the side of the road advertising a Lavender Garden, having nothing else to do we drove down the exit. When we got there, all we saw were rows and rows of beautiful lavender. There was 2 adorable renovated trailer homes on the edge of the property. 1 had a shop where you could purchase lavender products and the other was a tiny (but adorable) tea room! We walked around for about an hour and looked at all the different kinds of lavender and took tons of pictures. There were little bees everywhere but they didn't sting the were just hanging around! We had signed up for a 2 mile hike up and down a mountain, with llamas! It was amazing and I would totally want to go again! We got there and the llamas were all hanging around the trailer and the guide was super nice! You got to pick your llama and the you started your trek down the Rio Grande gorge! I got an adorable black llama named Zepher, and my mom got one named Mardi Gras. Going down went super quick (Probably an hour) and when we got down, there was a river that we played in. The kids all got in the water and we worked as a team to catch a TON of crawdads while they made lunch for us. I spotted a snake in the water and pointed it out to the group, then one of the boys we were with, went out to it and grabbed it by the head! The adults were freaking out and we all were just laughing. Our lunch was amazing and we all had "Natural Sodas"that were surprisingly good!  The hike back up took about 2 hours and I got to lead us up! It was an amazing experience and I had an amazing time. ( Link to their website:  http://www.llamaadventures.com) The last day before we left we went white water rafting. It was super fun and our guide was once again super nice! It went perfect other than that it got super cold and rained at the end, but even worse, it hailed! Other than that we had a great time rafting! (Rafting company we were with: https://www.newmexicoriveradventures.com) I had an amazing time in New Mexico!
